The Menasha Joint School District is committed to supporting our students, families, and staff as our community continues to recover from the July 27th storms. This page serves as the district's central source for updates from the district, along with community resources and other important information as we prepare for the start of the school year.
While every family's circumstances are different, our commitment remains the same: to meet families where they are, communicate openly, and ensure every student has the support they need for a successful start to the school year.
What we know now:
School remains scheduled to begin on Monday, August 31. Every Menasha student will have a place to learn on the first day of school.
While the Gegan Elementary building sustained extensive damage, we are actively exploring every possible option to ensure every Gegan student begins the school year in a safe, welcoming learning environment with outstanding teachers and staff.
District open houses are expected to proceed as scheduled. We'll communicate any changes directly if they become necessary.
Athletics and activities are expected to begin on schedule whenever possible. District leaders continue working closely with coaches and advisors to provide students with the opportunities and experiences that are such an important part of school.

The Bluejay Back-to-School Bash has been postponed and is being reimagined as we determine how it can best meet the current needs of our students and families. Our goal remains the same: helping every student begin the school year with the supplies, resources, and support they need.
While virtual learning is always an option through the Fox Valley Virtual School for families that choose that direction for their student(s), those student not able to begin the year in the Gegan Elementary School building will not be moved to virtual learning. Instead, on August 31, every student will have a classroom to walk into on the first day of school within a safe, supportive community and with a teacher that will champion their learning.
Support for families remains a priority. District staff will continue reaching out to families, connecting them with resources, and providing updates as additional information becomes available.

Yes. Every Gegan student will have a place to learn when school begins on August 31, however, the Gegan Elementary School building will not be available to start the 2026-27 school year. We are actively working to finalize plans that provide students with a safe, welcoming learning environment alongside the teachers and staff who believe in them and care for them. More information will be released on Tuesday, August 11.
District leaders are actively evaluating options. As soon as plans are finalized, they will be shared directly with Gegan families and posted on this page.

Yes. Your child still has a place in Menasha. Depending on your family's situation, transportation services or our Fox Valley Virtual Learning Program may be available while your family recovers.
